Benefits of Seated Spinal Twist Pose

Seated Spinal Twist pose may help to increase the efficiency of the breathing muscles, according to Yoga Chicago. By stretching the chest and other areas of the respiratory system, oxygen can flow better through the body. Breath is vertical during this yoga pose, which may cause the alveoli (the tiny air sacs in the lungs) of both lungs to open up evenly. A breath that is vertical causes the body to expand upward, while a breath that is horizontal causes the body to expand outward.
