6 Yoga Poses for COPD Patients
Yoga can help train the diaphragm to do more work during breathing. Placing one hand on the belly and one on the chest may help direct breath to the rib cage. When exhaling, pressing gently on the stomach to push up the diaphragm may help ease the air out. This breathing technique may also improve blood circulation in COPD patients. This increased blood circulation may increase the strength of respiratory muscles — according to the COPD Foundation.
