The Science Behind Hangovers
Drinking alcohol can trigger your blood sugar levels to fall sharply. According to research from Johns Hopkins medicine, the liver starts to work overtime to rid your blood of ethanol and acetaldehyde and cannot keep your blood sugar adequately regulated. When your blood sugar is processed less effectively, you can start to feel weak or fatigued, shaky and moody — all tell-tale signs of a hangover.
