Myths and Facts About Popular Health Foods
Those looking for an energy boost without the extra calories may reach for diet soda, but is the midday pick-me-up really worth it? A recent study from the American Diabetes Association linked daily diet soda consumption to both incident metabolic syndrome (excess body fat around the waist and high fasting blood sugar) and type 2 diabetes. Dietitians often speak out against diet soda because of its lack of nutritional value, and may recommend tea or black coffee instead to those looking for a caffeine fix.
