Celebrity Eating Disorders
Award-winning actress and fitness guru Jane Fonda revealed that she had struggled with bulimia for 30 years in her autobiography “My Life So Far.”
"I was taught by my father [actor Henry Fonda] that how I looked was all that mattered, frankly," Fonda told Harper's Bazaar. "He sent messages to me that fathers should not send: Unless you look perfect, you're not going to be loved."
According to Fonda, the eating disorder, which she battled for much of her adult life, took a dramatic toll on her quality of life.
"I was in my 40s, and if you suffer from bulimia, the older you get, the worse it gets,” Fonda said.
Today, Fonda says she has learned to embrace her beauty.
