Zarah is a prescription birth control medication used to prevent pregnancy. Zarah contains two hormones, drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol, which belong to a group of drugs called hormonal contraceptives. These hormones prevent pregnancy by stopping ovulation and by altering cervical mucus and the lining of the uterus to prevent sperm from entering.

This medication comes in tablet form and is taken once daily at the same time each day, preferably after the evening meal or at bedtime.

Common side effects of Zarah include nausea, breast tenderness, and vaginal bleeding between menstrual periods.
