Theraflu Multi Symptom Overview

Updated:

Theraflu Multi-Symptom Severe Cold is an over the counter medication used to relieve symptoms due to cold, minor aches and pains, minor sore throat pain, headache, nasal and sinus congestion, cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation, and temporarily reduces fever.

It is a single product containing 3 medications: acetaminophen, dextromethorphan, and phenylephrine.

Acetaminophen is in a class of medications called analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (fever reducers). It works by changing the way the body senses pain and by cooling the body. Dextromethorphan is in a class of medications called antitussives. It works by decreasing activity in the part of the brain that causes coughing. Phenylephrine is in a class of medications called nasal decongestants. It works by reducing swelling of the blood vessels in the nasal passages.

This medication comes in powder packets and is dissolved in 8 oz. hot water. It should be sipped while hot and full contents should be consumed within 10-15 minutes.

Common side effects of Theraflu Multi-Symptom Severe Cold include nervousness, dizziness and lightheadedness.
