Vaccine Myths - Busted!
When it comes to the flu vaccine, some may question if it can provide protection even if the vaccine is not a “good match.” Because flu viruses are constantly changing, the flu vaccine that is chosen each year includes the strains predicted to be the most common to hit during flu season. If the available flu vaccine has been determined to be a “good match” for the strains during the flu season, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) continues to recommend flu vaccination for everyone age 6 months and older. Vaccination is particularly important for patients at high risk of serious flu complications and their close contacts.
