Tips to Start the New Year on a High Note
Between sleigh rides and snowmen, the holiday season wouldn’t be the same without chilly temperatures. Cold weather is all about sharing, whether it be a pair of gloves, a cup of hot cocoa — or germs. Although there isn’t a link between cold weather and sickness, your chance of getting a cold or the flu during the winter is much higher. The flu is especially common during the holiday season, as it’s passed easily from person to person by sneezing, coughing or even talking. That’s why it’s important to make sure to wash your hands with soap and water regularly. You can also clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol if soap and water are not available. Handwashing is one of the easiest steps you can take to stay healthy. And by washing your hands before and after meals, after coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose, and after using the restroom, you can ring in the New Year with family without fear of getting sick.
