Tips to Start the New Year on a High Note
As another year comes to a close, it can seem like time is moving all too quickly. But whether you’re 23 or 79, it’s not too late to get out of your comfort zone. Maybe you always wanted to go skydiving? Or to see a new country? Or maybe you simply want to try an exotic new food? Well, go for it! Trying something new can be as adventurous as you want it to be. And whether it gets your heart pumping or your taste buds tingling, it’s good news for your brain. When you do something that your brain isn’t used to, it takes notice and becomes more aware. The thrill that comes with the unknown is translated as “danger” by the brain, and chemicals are released that increase your focus and alertness. By trying new things and experiencing different environments, you can become more creative, productive and perform at a higher level. So make a plan to try at least one new thing in 2016 and reap the benefits all year long!
