Tips for Living with Type 2 Diabetes

Take Care of Your Teeth

Diabetes increases the amount of glucose in your saliva, which can lead to tooth decay, so make sure to brush and floss your teeth regularly. The higher your blood sugar is, the greater the risk for tooth decay (cavities), gingivitis (gum disease) and periodontitis (advanced gum disease). Prevention is key because diabetes also makes it harder for your body to fight off infection, which would make it more difficult to fight off gum disease.
