The Sunscreen Breakdown: What's Really in the Bottle?
As summer approaches, we all look forward to more time in the sun. And you likely know from mom that, before you catch some rays, you need to slather up with some sunscreen. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), exposure to the sun's rays may cause up to 90 percent of nonmelanoma skin cancers and wearing sunscreen is one of the best ways to lower this risk. But between active ingredients and sun protection factors, it's easy to get confused about the type of protection a bottle of lotion actually offers.
