Summer Sports Safety Tips
Surfing can be a fun way to exercise and enjoy the ocean. The ocean can be a dangerous place even for the most experienced surfers.
Keep these safety tips in mind before you ride those waves:
- Surf only when a lifeguard is on duty
- Follow all beach laws
- Always surf with a friend or where there are others in the water
- Swim parallel to the beach, especially if a riptide (a strong current) is present
- Protect your head after a wipeout
- Stretch before and after surfing sessions
- Always use your board’s leash
