How Is a Stroke Diagnosed?

CAT scans, MRI’s and CTAs are the medical tests most commonly used to diagnose strokes. A doctor may diagnose a stroke patient based on symptoms, medical history and previous test results. Finding out what kind type of stroke occurred and its cause is important to prevent future episodes. Blood tests are also commonly used to diagnose stokes.
