Stars with Diabetes
Even with a healthy lifestyle, type 1 diabetes can be a struggle. Michaels learned that the hard way early in his career when he collapsed on stage at Madison Square Garden after a blood sugar crash and woke up in the hospital. Michaels has used his wealth and fame to help raise money for various diabetes organizations, including winning over $500,000 for the American Diabetes Association on the show Celebrity Apprentice. He has also supported organizations like City of Hope and Skylar Neil Memorial Foundation, which fund research and treatment for life-threatening illnesses like cancer and HIV/AIDS.
