Running Safety Tips
The newest Nike apparel may look cool, but it’s important to dress appropriately for your run for more reasons than just style. The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) recommends wearing loose cotton clothing and layers on your upper body. The first layer should be a material that wicks the moisture from perspiration away, the middle layer should be an insulated, moisture absorbing layer, and the top layer should protect you from the wind. If you’re running in the cold, make sure your skin is as covered as possible. Any exposed areas can be protected with a thin layer of petroleum jelly to prevent frost bite. If you choose to run at night, wear reflective clothing.
