Olysio (simeprevir)

In 2013, the FDA approved the first once-daily protease inhibitor, Olysio (simeprevir). Olysio can be given with peginterferon alfa and ribavirin or with Sovaldi (sofosbuvir). This medication differs from previously approved medications because it can be given with another type of medication instead of peginterferon alfa and ribavirin. Olysio comes in capsule form and is taken once daily with food.
