Myth Buster: The Truth About Popular Diets
The Weight Watchers diet is unique in that instead of focusing on what foods a person can and can’t eat, it focuses on creating a caloric deficit, causing a person to lose weight. In addition to the diet, Weight Watchers advocates for exercise and having a support network. One study from 2013 showed that people who used Weight Watchers lost more weight than those who were in a “self-help” group. Researchers from that study said that because Weight Watchers helps people stay engaged, it may motivate them to lose weight.
