Medications to Modify the Course of MS

Novantrone (Mitoxantrone)

This medication acts in MS by suppressing the activity of T cells, B cells and macrophages that are thought to lead the attack on the myelin sheath. Novantrone should be used only in those with normal cardiac function, once every three months. Your doctor will monitor your heart, blood counts and liver function throughout the treatment period.
