Medications to Modify the Course of MS
Interferon beta 1b is injected subcutaneously (between the fat layer just under the skin and the muscles beneath) every other day. Flu-like symptoms are common in the first few weeks of treatment, but taking it at bedtime with acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil) thirty minutes before each injection may help relieve the flu-like symptoms.
