How Makeup Can Affect Your Health

Watch Out for Wrinkles

Mom may have told you to remove your makeup before bed to avoid wrinkles, but is there any truth to that warning? According to dermatologists Dr. Erin Gilbert and Dr. Eric Schweiger, there is. Drs. Gilbert and Schweiger told The Huffington Post that sleeping in makeup doesn’t give the skin a chance to recover from the day — which can lead to premature aging. Free radicals from the environment (often in the form of pollution) also may remain on the skin when it isn’t cleansed daily. This can lead to the development of fine lines and wrinkles. While it may be tempting to crawl under the covers after a night out, it’s important to remember that wearing makeup to bed may affect your skin for years to come.
