How to Keep Pets Safe in the Summer
Even if your dog could pass for an Olympic swimmer, it is never a good idea to leave your pet alone in a body of water, according to the ASPCA. Always make sure your dog is comfortable with water before letting it dip its paws in. If you’re bringing your pet on a boat, make sure it wears a life jacket. At the pool, try to prevent your pet from drinking pool water — this may upset its stomach. And rinse your dog off after it has been in the pool or ocean to get the chlorine or salt out of its fur, as these may cause skin irritation.
