How to Keep Pets Safe in the Summer
Taking your pet to the beach can be a fun activity for the whole family to enjoy, but it can also be dangerous. Dogs are easy targets for sea lice and jellyfish, according to the AKC — so check with a lifeguard for daily water conditions. Be sure your animal has a place to cool down, proper tags and fresh water to drink. Don’t forget that dogs can get sunburned just like people. If your pet has pink skin, white hair or ears or short fur, apply sunscreen to its skin and nose and limit sun exposure. Running on a beach may also be strenuous and can result in injury for dogs, especially if they are older or out of shape.
