People are often advised to wait 30 minutes to an hour before swimming after a big meal. This advice stems from the idea that blood will be diverted from your arms and legs the digestive tract and your limbs won’t be able to function properly, increasing your chances of drowning. However, according to the New York Times, this claim is false and doesn’t have any research to back it up.
