Foods That Help You Live Longer

Red Wine

Due to compounds in the skin and seeds of red grapes, red wine contains a significant amount of antioxidants known as flavonoids. While moderate intake of alcohol in general has been linked to a reduced risk for heart disease, red wine was found to have the strongest association. Additionally, components in red wine such as resveratrol and tyrosol were found to activate genes associated with longevity. It is important to keep alcohol consumption at moderate levels and know how it may interfere with your medications or health. For example, red wine contains a high level of histamines and may aggravate symptoms in rheumatoid arthritis patients.
