Pomegranate

Pomegranates — even in the form of extract or juice — contain a significant amount of antioxidants. While more research is needed, preliminary results from in vitro and animal studies suggest that compounds found in pomegranates may inhibit prostate cancer growth. Additionally, one clinical trial following men with prostate cancer showed that participants who drank pomegranate juice experienced improvements in biomarkers that predict disease spread and death. Beyond the potential anti-cancer benefits, a clinical study also found that rheumatoid arthritis patients who consumed pomegranate extract experienced reduced symptoms and disease activity.
