Foods That Help You Live Longer

Legumes

Legumes are a class of vegetables that includes beans, peas and lentils. Besides being a cheap and versatile food, legumes are also significant sources of dietary fiber and protein. The fiber content helps promote digestive health and can reduce symptoms of OAB and IBS. Additionally, regularly consuming legumes may increase longevity. In a study that followed the dietary habits of elderly adults from Japan, Sweden, Greece and Australia, legumes were the only food found to be significantly linked to death risk. Across ethnicity, every 20 grams of legumes eaten daily was associated with an 8 percent reduction in the death risk.
