Not Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining

A cloudy look to the pupil may be cataracts. While cataracts are rather common among elderly patients — usually developing around age 60 — age-related cataracts can occur in people as young as 40. However, they may also be a result of uncontrolled diabetes. Steroid use may also cause cataracts. Babies may be born with cataracts if the mother has an infection while pregnant. Some signs of cataracts are sensitivity to light and glare, frequent changes in eyeglass or contact lens prescription, and clouded or blurred vision.
