External Signs of Internal Problems
Beau’s lines are indents across the nail. They result from a sudden interruption of nail keratin synthesis and grow horizontally with the nail plate. These lines can occur after illness, injury to the nail or malnutrition. They may indicate uncontrolled diabetes or vitamin or mineral deficiencies. They may also be a result of fever, pneumonia or other illnesses.
