Essential Nutrients for Children
At this age, the amount of nutrients kids need jumps up once again. Recommended daily calories come in at 1,400 to 2,200 for girls, and at 1,600 to 2,600 for boys. Daily protein for girls is recommended to be between 4 and 6 ounces, and between 5 and 6.5 ounces for boys. Fruit and veggie recommendations are the same for both girls and boys — at between 1.5 and 2 cups and between 2.5 and 4 cups a day. For grains, girls are recommended to eat between 5 and 7, while boys are recommended to eat between 5 and 9 ounces. Daily dairy intake is at 3 cups for both boys and girls.
