Eat Like an Athlete

Hydrate!

You’ve likely heard how important it is to stay hydrated throughout the day, but hydration is particularly necessary for athletes. Athletes face a greater risk of becoming dehydrated because of how quickly they lose water through sweat. To combat this risk, make sure to take frequent water breaks throughout workouts or practices. The Institute of Medicine recommends female athletes drink roughly 9 cups of water per day and male athletes drink roughly 13 cups. Depending on the type of activity, you may need to drink more fluids.
