Diagnosed with Diabetes — Now What?
High blood sugar can cause damage to your body. Monitoring blood sugar levels is the main method to see if your diabetes is controlled. Your doctor will explain your goal for blood sugar levels and when and how often to measure your levels. Not storing your blood glucose test strips properly can affect the test results. Make sure to store your test supplies according to their instructions. If you have any questions on how to properly measure your sugar levels, be sure to ask.
Also, it is recommended that you manage your other health conditions, such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Your doctor can help manage your other health conditions.
