Coping with Overactive Bladder

Fluid Consumption

Many people think that by reducing their intake of fluid, less urine will be passed and their condition will improve. According to COB Foundation, drinking less water does result in a reduction of urine, but the urine that is produced is highly concentrated. This can actually cause further problems and irritation of the bladder lining. Generally, the guidelines for adults are 2 to 2.5 liters of liquid per day. Remember not to drink all of it at once or too close to bedtime, however. The COB Foundation recommends drinking the majority of fluids before 6 pm to prevent nocturia (waking up during the night to urinate).
