Commonly Ignored Heart Attack Symptoms

Overwhelming Fatigue

Fatigue can be a symptom of a whole variety of conditions, ranging from something as simple as a poor night’s sleep to chronic conditions like multiple sclerosis. In one study conducted by the National Institute of Health, over 70 percent of women reported unusual fatigue a month or more before experiencing a heart attack. Because fatigue can be caused by so many conditions, it may be hard to know when to seek help. In the case of a heart attack, patients described the fatigue as debilitating, much like you might experience while sick with the flu. It is important not to worry every time you start feeling tired, but if you experience sudden and extreme fatigue without a clear explanation (heavy exertion or lack of sleep), it is a good idea to talk with your doctor.
