Commonly Ignored Heart Attack Symptoms

Anxiety and Insomnia

Anxiety and insomnia are two of the most common mental health issues in America. Both conditions can add to each other and are often related to daily stressors like work. The sudden onset of these conditions might point to a serious physical illness like cardiovascular disease. Indeed, almost half of respondents in an NIH study reported sleep disturbances, and over a third experienced unusual anxiety in the weeks leading up to their heart attack. Additionally, several studies have found an association between anxiety and sudden cardiac death. Whatever the cause, it is important to discuss persistent anxiety or sleep troubles with your doctor, as these symptoms alone can seriously disrupt daily life.
