What Makes High Cholesterol Dangerous?

When LDL levels are high, cholesterol that is deposited in the walls of arteries form a plaque. Over time, plaque may cause the arteries to become narrower and harden. This condition (atherosclerosis) can may put a person at risk for heart attack, stroke, or affect the kidneys and intestines.
