Celiac Disease 101
Once a patient is diagnosed, treatment can begin. While there is no cure-all pill for celiac disease, it is usually treated with a life-long gluten-free diet. This diet may help symptoms to subside and the intestines to return to a healthy state. Patients with celiac disease may want to seek help from a dietician who specializes in celiac disease and gluten-free diets. Doctors may also prescribe vitamins and minerals to correct any nutritional deficiency caused by the disease or this diet.
