Celebrity Eating Disorders
“Growing Pains” star Tracey Gold has fought a very public battle with eating disorders and was first diagnosed with anorexia at the age of 12. At her lowest point, she weighed only 79 pounds.
Gold admitted, in a 2012 interview with Dr. Drew, that her stardom added to her anxiety and insecurity.
“I felt so stuck,” Gold said. “I didn’t know how to get out of it. I didn’t want to let go of the disease, but I was fearful of the place I was in.”
With professional help, Gold said she successfully overcame the disease despite many obstacles and almost losing her life.
