The 6 Worst Desserts for Your Health
A plate of cookies left out for Santa can quickly become a platter of crumbs during the holiday season. And where there’s an abundance of cookies, most don’t stick with just one. A typical chocolate chip cookie contains about 100 calories, with 5 grams of fat and up to 8 grams of sugar. While this isn’t an unhealthy amount of calories, fat or sugar, the problem with cookies lies portion control. After just three cookies, you’re looking at 300 calories and 24 grams of sugar. If portion control isn’t your strong suit, stick to healthier options. A handful of dark chocolate almonds can satisfy your sweet tooth while providing heart-healthy antioxidants. If you can’t help but give in to the call of the cookie, try making a batch yourself with healthy substitutions. By swapping out certain ingredients, you can treat yourself to two — or even three — without the guilt!
