The 6 Worst Desserts for Your Health
Apple pie is a well-known staple of family get togethers. But between the sugary filling and processed pie crust, this dessert can be somewhat of a wolf in sheep’s clothing. A typical slice of apple pie contains between 300 and 400 calories, 20 grams of fat and up to 20 grams of sugar — and that’s if you don’t go back for seconds! While the filling does consist of fruit, the real villain here is the crust. Most pie crusts are made of refined carbohydrates, which can contribute to weight gain and even boost your risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease. By swapping that slice of pie for a scoop of apple crisp made with oats, you’ll barely miss the crust — and your body will thank you for it, too!
