Reserpine is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure. Reserpine belongs to a group of drugs called rauwolfia alkaloids. These work by slowing the activity of the nervous system, resulting in decreased heart rate and lowering of blood pressure. 

This medication comes in an oral (by mouth) tablet and is usually taken once daily, with or without food. 

Common side effects of reserpine include vomiting, diarrhea, and headache.

Reserpine can also cause drowsiness and dizziness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how reserpine affects you.
