Omesec is an over-the-counter medication used to treat frequent heartburn. Omesec belongs to a group of drugs called proton-pump inhibitors, which work by reducing the amount of acid made in the stomach.
This medication comes in delayed capsule form. It is taken once daily, with a glass of water before eating in the morning.
Common side effects of Omesec include headache, stomach pain, and nausea.

Side Effects of Omesec

- nelfinavir (Viracept)

- voriconazole (Vfend)
- ampicillin (Unasyn)
- products that contain iron
- warfarin (Coumadin)
- digoxin (Lanoxin, Lanoxincaps)

Omesec Precautions
Serious allergic reactions may occur with Omesec use. Tell your doctor if you get any of the following symptoms with Omesec:
- rash
- face swelling
- throat tightness
- difficulty breathing
Stop use and ask a Doctor if:
- Your heartburn continues or worsens
- You need to take his product for more than 14 days
- You need to take more than 1 course of treatment every 4 months
Do not take Omesec if you:
- are allergic to any of the ingredients in Omesec
- have trouble or pain swallowing food, vomiting with blood, or bloody or black stools.
- are allergic to any other Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) medicine
Omesec Food Interactions
Medicines can interact with certain foods. In some cases, this may be harmful and your doctor may advise you to avoid certain foods. In the case of Omesec there are no specific foods that you must exclude from your diet when receiving Omesec.
Inform MD
Tell your doctor about all your medical conditions, including if you have:
- Had heartburn over 3 months. This may be a sign of a more serious condition.
- Heartburn with lightheadedness, sweating or dizziness.
- Chest pain or shoulder pain with shortness of breath, sweating, pain spreading to arms, neck or shoulders, or lightheadedness
- Frequent chest pain.
- Frequent wheezing, particularly with heartburn
- Unexplained weight loss
- Nausea or vomiting
- Stomach pain
- Liver problems
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed.
Tell your doctor about all of the medicines you take including prescription and non-prescription drugs, vitamins and herbal supplements.

Omesec Usage
Read the directions warnings before use.
Omesec comes in delayed capsule form. It is taken once daily, with a glass of water before eating in the morning
14-Day Course of Treatment
- Swallow 1 capsule every day for 14 days
- Do not take more than 1 capsule a day
- Do not chew or crush the capsule
- Do not crush capsules in food
- Do not use for more than 14 days unless directed by your doctor
Repeated 14-Day Courses (if needed)
- You may repeat a 14-day course every 4 months
- Do not take more than 14 days or more often than every 4 month unless directed by a doctor
Omesec Dosage
Follow the directions on the label.
Adults 18 years of age and older: Take one capsule (20 mg) once a day (every 24 hours), every day for 14 days.
It may take 1 to 4 days for full effect, although some people get complete relief of symptoms within 24 hours.
Do not take more than 14 days unless directed by your doctor. You may repeat a 14-day course every 4 months.
Ask a doctor for children under 18 years of age.
Omesec Overdose
If you take too much of this medication, call your local Poison Control Center or seek emergency medical attention right away.
Other Requirements

- Keep the carton and package insert. They contain important information
- Store at 20ºC to 25ºC ( 68ºF to 77ºF)
- Keep product out of high heat and humidity
- Protect product from moisture
