Esperoct is a prescription medication used for treatment and prevention of bleeding in adults and children with hemophilia A.
Esperoct belongs to a group of drugs called coagulation factors, which help the blood to clot.
This medication is available in an injectable form to be given directly into a vein (IV) by a healthcare professional.

Esperoct Interactions
No drug interactions have been evaluated by the manufacturer. However, you should tell your doctor about all the medicines you take including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Not all drug interactions are known or reported and new drug interactions are continually being reported.
Esperoct Precautions
Serious side effects have been reported with Esperoct including:
- Hypersensitivity reactions. Tell your healthcare provider right away if you have some or all of the following symptoms of allergic reaction.
- Chest tightness
- Difficulty breathing
- Rash
- Hives
- Swelling
- Formation of neutralizing antibodies. Your doctor may wish to monitor you for signs of neutralizing antibodies and run laboratory tests to confirm. Bleeding that does not stop after Esperoct administration may be a sign of the presence of neutralizing antibodies.
Do not take Esperoct if you are allergic to any of its ingredients.
Esperoct Food Interactions
Medications can interact with certain foods. In some cases, this may be harmful and your doctor may advise you to avoid certain foods. In the case of Esperoct, there are no specific foods that you must exclude from your diet when receiving this medication.

Before you take Esperoct tell your doctor about all your medical conditions. Especially tell your doctor if you:
- are allergic to Esperoct or to any of its ingredient, including hamster proteins
- are pregnant or plan to become pregnant
- are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed

Esperoct and Pregnancy
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
No studies have been done in animals, and no well-controlled studies have been done in pregnant women. Esperoct should be given to pregnant women only if clearly needed.
Esperoct and Lactation
Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding or if you plan to breastfeed.
It is not known if Esperoct crosses into human breast milk. Because many medications can cross into human milk and because of the possibility for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants with use of this medication, a choice should be made whether to stop nursing or stop the use of this medication. Your doctor and you will decide if the bennefits outweigh the risk of using Esperoct.
Esperoct Usage
Take Esperoct exactly as prescribed.
This medication is available in an injectable form to be given directly into a vein (IV) by a healthcare professional.
If you miss a dose of Esperoct, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the regular time. Do not take 2 doses of Esperoct at the same time.
Esperoct Dosage
This medication should be administered directly into a vein by a healthcare professional. The dose you receieve is based on your height and weight, as well as the indication for treatment and severity of bleeding episode.
Esperoct Overdose
Esperoct is administered by a healthcare provider in a medical setting, therefore it is unlikely that an overdose will occur. However, if an overdose is suspected, seek emergency medical attention.
