Angel Rodriguez, MD

Dr. Angel Augusto Rodriguez is currently a member of the Houston Methodist Cancer Center’s Breast Oncology department. He graduated from Universidad Central del Caribe in Puerto Rico in 2002, and trained at the Methodist Hospital during his Internal Medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine. He completed a fellowship in Medical Oncology and Hematology at Baylor College of Medicine and subsequently subspecialized in breast cancer as part of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Interdisciplinary Breast Fellowship Program. The specialized training in breast cancer included experience in the different fields of breast cancer such as surgery, plastic surgery, radiology, pathology, radiation oncology, and psychooncology. Dr. Rodriguez has also served as a Clinical Instructor at Baylor College of Medicine. He has worked throughout the Greater Houston area including The Woodlands, Spring, Humble, Kingwood, and Memorial City.

Dr. Rodriguez is active in breast oncology research and clinical trials. His fields of interest include triple negative breast cancer, breast cancer stem cells, brain metastasis, and novel predictive biomarkers for personalized medicine. He was awarded a Scholar-in-Training award in the 2008 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium for his presentation on the BRCA1 Gene Expression Signature predicting anthracycline-sensitivity in sporadic triple negative tumors which led to a publication in Breast Cancer Research in May 2010. He has given oral presentations about his research around the world including Dallas, Montreal, and Berlin. Dr. Rodriguez is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. His memberships include American College of Physicians, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology and Texas Medical Association.
