(RxWiki News) Take a second look at the label before you make your next peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
That's because your peanut butter may be subject to a recall.
Skippy Foods, LLC, is voluntarily recalling several of its peanut butter products because a limited number of jars may contain a piece of steel from manufacturing equipment.
The recall affects 9,353 cases of Skippy peanut butter products, which translates to around 161,692 pounds. Skippy said the manufacturing facility identified the risk of contamination with metal fragments and voluntarily issued the recall.
The following products were included in the recall:
- Skippy Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter Spread
- Skippy Reduced Fat Chunky Peanut Butter Spread
- Skippy Creamy Peanut Butter Blended With Plant Protein
Not all jars of the above products will be included in the recall. To check whether your peanut butter is subject to this recall, take a look at the "Best if Used By" date on the top of the lid. If one of the following best-by codes appears on your jar, your peanut butter is included in the recall:

If you have one of the affected products, Skippy said to return it to the store for an exchange or contact Skippy Foods, LLC.
The manufacturer said it had received no customer complaints related to the issue that sparked this recall as of publication time.
