Mucinex Sinus-Max Day Overview
Mucinex Sinus-Max Day is an over the counter medication used to treat symptoms of a cold and flu, including sore throat, minor aches and pain, stuffy nose, sinus pressure, and chest congestion.
It is a single product containing 3 ingredients: acetaminophen, guaifenesin, and phenylephrine. Acetaminophen belongs to a group of drugs called analgesics, which is thought to work by blocking pain signals from reaching the brain. Guaifenesin belongs to a group of drugs called expectorants. These works by causing the respiratory tract to release more fluids and soften mucous, which allows phlegm to be expectorated more easily. Phenylephrine belongs to a group of drugs called nasal decongestants, which work by narrowing the blood vessels and reducing the swelling inside your nasal passage.
This medication comes in a caplet form, and is often taken every 4 hours as needed, with or without food.
Common side effects of Mucinex Sinus-Max Day include nervousness/excitement, fast heart rate, and shakiness.
