Propantheline is a prescription medication used with other medication to treat peptic ulcers. Propantheline belongs to a group of drugs called anticholinergics. These work by slowing the movement of food through the stomach and intestines and decreasing the amount of acid made by the stomach. 

This medication comes in tablet form and is usually taken 4 times a day, 30 minutes before each meal and at bedtime. 

Common side effects of propantheline include dry mouth, decreased sweating, and eye problems. Propantheline can also cause drowsiness or blurred vision. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how propantheline affects you.
