Apraclonidine Overview
Apraclonidine is a prescription medication used to treat glaucoma. Apraclonidine is also used to prevent or reduce increased pressure in the eye during and after certain types of laser eye surgery. Apraclonidine belongs to a group of drugs called alpha 2 adrenergic agonists. These work to lower the pressure in the eye by decreasing the amount of fluid in it.
This medication comes as an eye drop and is usually applied into the eye 3 times a day.
Common side effects of apraclonidine include red eyes, eye discomfort, teary eyes, and itching.
Apraclonidine can also cause blurred vision. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how apraclonidine affects you.
